Fishers of Moms

Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!”

Matthew 4:19

In December 2018, I was introduced to “soul-winning through motherhood”.  After church service, a sweet older momma walked up to me to give motherhood advice.

She said I was getting close to a phase where communicating/connecting with other mommas would become an important and unavoidable part of my life. She said it was important for me to see my connection with other moms as an opportunity to spread love and introduce Jesus to a family.

Instead of talking about myself and my child, I can talk about God’s love and focus on the needs of moms I meet at the mall, park, in pre-school, etc.

I love it. I don’t have to think about what anyone thinks of me or my child while talking to another mom or walking into a room filled with moms. I can talk or walk in like an ambassador of Christ on a mission to fish for moms and bring the gospel of peace into their homes.

That should be the attitude of every Christian Mom. We shouldn’t go around absorbed in self. We should be kingdom minded and conscious of the presence of God upon us and carry the peace of Jesus to the hurting moms around us.

In addition, the older mom emphasized the importance of adhering to godly parenting principles and being cautious of the pressure to adopt parenting ideologies that can be detrimental to my marriage and family dynamics.  That’s something to keep in mind.

Mommas, Let’s start fishing for souls!
