Postpartum Problems 2

Two months ago, my fitness coach shared this powerful devotional by Joseph Prince. I decided to revisit it because I need a testimony and a reminder that sound mind is my inheritance.

Dare to believe this with me!

I am desperately in need of a perfectly functioning brain at this time in my life. It is important for my career and life in general.

Mom brain is not a joke. There are scientific research on the subject with evidences that the birth of a child affects the brain of mothers.

I have had both negative and positive symptoms of ‘mom brain’.

Without prior experience on how to take care of a baby, I did a fantastic job of caring for a newborn with my husband who had no prior experience either. For me, the ability to think like a mother began with the birth of my son. Something definitely happened to my brain. My ability to sense the need of a baby has increased tremendously.

However, I noticed an increase in forgetfulness and it takes an unusually longer duration of time for me to comprehend things. Sometimes, it seems like it takes a while for what I know to catch up with what I am doing. That’s the best way I can put it. How do you explain boiling water on a stove when there is a hot water dispenser available?! What happened to my ability to quickly retrieve information from the brain and quickly determine the best course of action?!

As I provide therapy for individuals with mental health issues, I cannot afford to accept negative ‘mom brain’ symptoms. I need a clear and sharp mind in order to effectively serve the individuals I work with. I want to give my best and I have chosen to not settle for anything less than what God has made available.

I will not allow or permit negative ‘mom brain’ symptoms to be a thing in my life.

I tell you the truth, whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.
Matthew 18:8 (NLT)

I will daily confess that I have the mind of Christ.

For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:16 (ESV)

I will daily confess that I have sound mind.

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)

I will believe and wait to see the manifestation of God’s promises. I can’t wait to share testimonies of the change, unusual wisdom, knowledge and understanding with a sharp memory.

We can count on God’s faithfulness to keep His Words!

Thank you for reading. Stay blessed.
