My Book of Testimonies

This may be my longest post ever….but you will be glad you read every sentence and I hope it motivates you to start writing down testimonies.

In 2016, I started penning down testimonies of God’s goodness and faithfulness. This act was inspired by the mountains that were cast into the sea and the favor that surrounded my Denmark wedding. It is a long testimony but I will make it short.

We were planning a wedding while I was recovering from a hip injury in 2016. However, I was being sent on a training deployment for Operation Atlantic Resolve. I wasn’t medically ready for training deployment based on doctor’s recommendation but my platoon leader didn’t care about that. They needed certain number of troops on ground. My troop was needed and I was needed as a medic.

My fiance (now husband) and I praised God while I was hurting and crying about the situation. There was no way out. I used the open-door policy to explain my medical situation to the commander but I was told I had to go and I will simply work in the clinic. Fast forward, we loaded up the bus to the airport and there was a sudden flight cancellation. We were rescheduled to leave the next day. While preparing to board the bus as scheduled, my platoon sergeant informed me that the commander decided to let me stay back in Germany. And that was how the first mountain was moved…….more doors were opened after that and the direction of my military career changed.

Today, I wrote down more testimonies. I wrote about getting a job offer last month despite showing up 20 minutes late for my interview because I somehow got lost. My interview location was 5 minutes away from home but I spent almost 30 minutes looking for the location and I kept calling the wrong number to inform my interviewer about the situation. I was frustrated and almost gave up because I was certain I would get a positive feedback from a previous interview (I am yet to get a feedback).

I wrote about numerous times God showed us unusual favor, intervened in His mercy, and came through for my household in ways that our limited human knowledge could not have planned out.

While writing, I began to see how great God is, how much of a master planner God is, and His faithfulness to direct our paths when we acknowledge Him in ALL our ways (Proverbs 3:6) was reaffirmed.

Taking time to share and write down testimonies helps me reflect on God’s goodness, and it strengthens my faith. When I reflect on God’s miracles in my household, I have great hope that I will not become a victim of inter-generational marital failure which has prevailed for too long in my side of the family.

I can picture my children, grand children, great grand children and all children down my generation reading about God’s goodness in the family.

After that whole generation had been gathered to their ancestors, another generation grew up who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel. Then the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord and served the Baals. They forsook the Lord, the God of their ancestors, who had brought them out of Egypt. They followed and worshiped various gods of the peoples around them. They aroused the Lord’s anger because they forsook him and served Baal and the Ashtoreths. In his anger against Israel the Lord gave them into the hands of raiders who plundered them. He sold them into the hands of their enemies all around, whom they were no longer able to resist. Whenever Israel went out to fight, the hand of the Lord was against them to defeat them, just as he had sworn to them. They were in great distress.

Judges 2:10-15 New International Version (NIV)

I want to leave a legacy that testifies of God’s love and goodness. So that no one will be able to convince my children that miracles stopped in the Bible days. So that they will see reasons to serve the God that I serve. So that they can trust the God who has redeemed them from generational curses and brought them into wealth. So that they too can seek God for themselves.

Please join me. Pen down those testimonies!
