No Worries, No Fear

Lately, I have been learning how to trust God and pray instead of worrying. Two days after a message in church about the importance of turning our worries/heart desires into prayer points, my family went through a minor gas fire incident at home. I captured the incident in a poem titled Flames and Fury.

After the incident, I recaptured the intensity of the experience and fear about what could have happened began to creep into my mind.

You see, that’s the thing about fear. In fear, we dwell on hypothetical negative outcomes… Most times our worry is in vain or we worry our worst nightmares into existence instead of relying on the goodness and supremacy of our God. Job 3:25 “What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me.”

Friends, I challenge you to consciously filter your thoughts, constant stream of worry and fear about anything and everything. Replace those “I can’t because…” With:

“I can do all things through Christ” Philippians 4:13

“If God is for me, who can be against me” Romans 8:31

“God is my refuge, ever present help in time of trouble” Psalm 46:1

“No weapon formed against me shall prosper And every tongue that rises against me is condemned” Isaiah 54:17

“God will renew my strength, I will rise up above this situation on eagle’s wings. I will run and not grow weary, I will walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31

May the perfect love of God become real to you and cast out every seed of fear sown by the enemy.

  1. Yes I struggle with worry and fear…fear of the unknown…
I have some of those same verses memorized and I’m getting better about repeating them over and over to focus on truth rather than fear!
    Great encouragement!

    1. My dear sis thank for reading and relating to the content about worry and fear.

Honestly it isn’t about knowing the scriptures alone. Bible says faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.

There is power in declaring scriptures out loud, let in be both our confession of faith and also a way to build our faith by repeating it to our ears over and over and over

Till we build our faith and silent the voice or mind-tape-reel of fear and worry

    1. So glad u checked it out. It captured my fear right in the instant

I opened my phone and typed the draft as my body was trembling in the aftermath
