Precious Words

Few days ago, I wrote about the value most parents place on their baby’s first words and how value tend to depreciate over time.

This morning, I had a great impression on my heart that God values my words. It was aha moment for me as many scriptures came to mind and choosing my words purposefully became more crucial.

1 Samuel 3:19 stood out to me:

“The LORD was with Samuel as he grew up, and he let none of Samuel’s words fall to the ground.”

I have been meditating on 1 Samuel 3:19 all day.

Adam’s words were also very precious, God asked Adam to name the things that were created. How amazing!

Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.

Genesis 2:19 (NIV)

How much did Samuel say in his lifetime? Samuel’s children were not like him, didn’t he use his words to help his children? What type of relationship did Samuel have with God? All these questions and more are flooding my heart.

I have always known that words are powerful. However, the revelation that God values my words makes me feel special. I can imagine God being proud of me when I use my words to glorify him and declare his will. What joy!

What if we all begin to speak or talk like our words are precious? How different would our lives and the world be?
