Christmas Is About Giving and Receiving

In God’s kingdom, giving and receiving are important. While it is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35), receiving is also important. How can we fulfill God’s purpose for our lives if we do not receive God’s free gifts and enjoy the benefits of being a giver (Luke 6:38). Yesterday, I read a short post- Christmas Is About Getting by Becky Kopitze. I have been reflecting on what Becky wrote.

Thank God! I no longer feel weird when I receive a gift. I thank the giver, thank God and move on. I have friends who still have difficulty receiving gifts, and I know people who do not receive gifts because they believe they have to give something back. Those attitudes towards receiving denies one from enjoying the gifts of friendship and God’s gifts. Mommas, receive the gift of help when it is offered, and do not be ashamed to ask for help this holiday season. The things we do in the natural realm reveal our spiritual state and our relationship with God.

God gave Jesus to us, so that we can receive the things that pertain to life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3). In God’s kingdom, asking and giving are the keys to receiving. Yet, we cannot have what we do not receive.

Celebrate Jesus this season by asking and receiving good gifts from God. If it matters to you, it matters to your heavenly father. Also, give the gift of love by sharing the good news of salvation and do good to those who cannot repay you.

Make Christmas your way of life!

  1. What a wonderful message ❤️. He truly is the Giver. I think sometimes He has so much in store for us and is just waiting for us to ask! Merry Christmas, Temi!

  2. Yes!! Love this!! I stink at receiving gifts and I’m guilty of feeling like I need to pay back, I’ve actually offended people by doing that…BUT I’ve been more conscientious of the fact that God has given the best gift ever and I had better humbly accept!!! Keeping that in mind has subsequently helped me be better at receiving gifts from others.
Thank you for this inspiring post!!
