She is a Lesbian, So What?

After a curious Google search, I discovered one of the little one’s daycare caregivers is a lesbian. Honestly, I felt uncomfortable. Why was I feeling uncomfortable that this nice openly homosexual lady was taking care of my little one? For a split second, I thought she would spread this homosexual spirit to my child. That was pathetic but I thought about it. It served as a reminder that I need to constantly renew my mind with God’s word. My heart was disturbed, so I began to pray in the Spirit.

After praying, my hypocrisy or self-righteousness was exposed and God’s love for the lesbian caregiver filled my heart.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 (NIV)

Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

That scripture lumps greed, adultery, alcoholism, stealing, etc. with homosexuality. It means a man and woman lusting for another person who is not their spouse are living in sin just like the homosexuals. Why do we treat homosexuality like it is the worst sin of all when it is just like other sexual immorality? That’s hypocrisy.

So, why was I freaking out about a lesbian caregiver? I do not know if the other caregiver is committing adultery or watching porn in secret. The fact that this lady’s sin is obvious does not make her worse than a person whose sin is hidden.

Instead of pulling out the little one from his daycare or devising ways to get the lesbian lady fired, I will continue to pray for her and love on her. That’s the Christian way. The LGBTQ way is to persecute those who do not agree with their views/beliefs, we cannot act like them. Hate is not the antidote for hate, love is. We are to love and have compassion on those who have chosen to live in sin. However, we are not to accept sin as “normal” and celebrate it. Love does not rejoice in iniquity. Our hearts should break for sin.

She is a lesbian. So, what? Pray for her and love on her.

As we celebrate Christmas with extended families whose lifestyles we disagree with, let us not be puffed up or act like we are better than they are. Self-righteousness pushes people away from us. Love draws people to the Christ in us. Jesus, the reason for the season is the one who makes us righteous. We all have sin tendencies. We all need Jesus.

PS: This post is about my personal conviction and how my family was led to handle the issue presented. I encourage you to seek God for yourself and ask Him what to do.♥️

  1. I agree that we are to love homosexuals and evangelize them just like we would anyone else. We are not to judge them, we can’t judge them while trying to win them to Christ. I do disagree that homosexuality is the same as other sexual sins. The scriptures describes it as unnatural.Homosexuality goes directly against the order of God (gender roles). God calls homosexuality an abomination, meaning God hates it! (Leviticus 18:22). Of course this means God hates the sinful act not the person committing the act because if He did then that would contradict John 3:16 and God does not contradict His word. We should always be a light to unbelievers regardless of their sexual orientation.

    1. Yes, God hates sin. He love sinners.
      Proverbs 6:16-19 says:
These six things the Lord hates,
Yes, seven are an abomination to Him:
A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, A false witness who speaks lies,
And one who sows discord among brethren.

What do you think about these verses? In order to habitually fornicate and commit adultery, some of these things are done. Sin grieves God’s heart.

There is no special hell for homosexuality. It is committed with the body just like committing adultery, and having sex outside wedlock because it is culturally acceptable. They are all driven by the spirit of lust.

Thank you for the reflective comment and expanding on the topic. It is good to have an open discourse about what we agree and disagree with. I value your comments.

      1. God is the ultimate judge for sin. But, homosexuality is sin by His order. The word sin is translated as “to miss the mark.”

God’s Word says homosexuality is unnatural, perversion, an abomination. It is not the same as fornication and no where in the scriptures do we find fornication is an abomination. Is there a special hell for homosexuals? No, I didn’t imply that either.

Homosexuality goes against His plan and order and falsifies what God created. Even if it is acceptable to some people it should never be acceptable to those who say they believe God’s word. We cannot say yes to what God has said no to. As Believers we should take that seriously.

I’m not homophobic. I share the love of Christ with those in a homosexual lifestyle just like I would someone who is heterosexual. Kingdom Citizens are to love all people into the Kingdom.

        1. Thank you for expanding on the topic. Every sin places us out of God’s will and order. God help us all. Leviticus 18 listed many sexual sins as an abomination. Adultery, incest, homosexuality, and more. We really don’t need to compare sin. Sin is sin. If we look at it that way, we will be more compassionate and not consider our occasional shortcomings as less sinful. Thank you ♥️
          Merry Christmas!

          1. I agree every sin places us out of God’s will. There are many sins, however an abomination puts you at serious odds with God. According to the scriptures adultery is not an abomination. My goal for my response was not to compare sin but to point out that homosexuality according to scripture is not the same as other sexual sin. Thank you for welcoming my response, God bless and Happy Holidays to you and your family!

  2. Thanks for this post. It reminds me to keep myself in check. As a dad I protected my children from this until I thought they were ready. Didn’t knowingly subject them to openly sinful people for any length of time until we could have meaningful discussion about it. Then it was about loving the person and avoiding the sinful behavior ourselves.

  3. Because one sins differently than us does not make them any less of a person, right? I mean we all try our hardest to live right through Christ, but we are not perfect. We are all just winging it, trying to protect ourselves and our loved ones until we are called home one day. We need to teach our children to love one another, no matter what. Our one true judge is God, not us.

    1. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We are all working out our salvation (Philippians 2:12). Inherently, we are not good people. Jesus makes us good. He gives us the will and grace to do God’s will. Thank you for stopping by. Merry Christmas! ♥️

  4. Wow. I have shared the same thoughts as you have and have been reninded that homosexual sin is just that SIN! And to be honest I have thought the same– can be be rubbed off LOL. Thank you for your correct spiritual response. Blessings to you this Christmas

    1. It is funny to hear that you also thought homosexuality can be rubbed off. Yes. The more we stop weighing sin and consider every sin as sin, the less hypocritical and judgmental we would become. Thank you for reflecting with me. Merry Christmas!

  5. Great words as always, especially on a topic that can make your mind spin!! I’m thankful you wrote on this and what an awesome way to handle it❤️

  6. The “LGBTQ way” as you call it, is not to persecute people who do not share our beliefs. It is to persecute people who try and take our rights, our legal benefits, our job security, our right to have children, and even our basic safety.

I urge you to expand your circle and get to know on a deeper level someone in the gay community, diversity makes us stronger, ignorance is the weak link.
