Rest in the Storm

Here is an interesting fact about this post- I started writing it on the 23rd of May, 2019. In my blogging journey, I have found it very helpful to quickly write whatever is laid on my heart so that I can reflect on it and later share with you, my friends. It may take months before I get to share a spiritual motherhood experience but it is always worth the wait.

Isn’t it weird that babies sometimes stay asleep while there is so much noise around but wake up when you try to sneak out of the room quietly?? In April 2019, I toured a coca-cola museum with the little one. A 4-D theater experience was part of the admission package. The little one slept through the 4-D theater experience. Chairs were moving and it was extremely loud, but he slept through it all. He woke up after we left the theater. It was unbelievable.

The little one reminded me of Jesus sleeping in the middle of a violent storm (Matthew 8:24). When life seems chaotic, we can still experience internal peace because the one who is peace lives in us. I can hear Him say, be still. Rest in me. I am your peace.

 Hebrews 4:10-11 (NIV)

For anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.

Personally, rest is giving thanks to God for answered prayers while waiting for a miracle this season. Not overthinking.

What does Hebrews 4:10-11 mean to you this season?

  1. For me it’s about not striving to earn my salvation through being a good parent or whatever else, but simply resting in the finished work of Christ.

  2. This post and the verse you gave parallels to one of my favorite verses:
psalm 127:2 In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat– for he grants sleep to those he loves. 🌺
God gives us divine rest, not the world but God.
    Thanks for sharing sis ♥️♥️♥️

    1. I love this. God has really been working on me to rest in Him-and not try to control/overthink. Thank you for sharing!

  3. Graceful share sis. We need to allow His rest dwell on our inside. That we may have peace even when we come face to face with the banters the enemy throws at us.
    Happy new month. ❤

  4. I find that writing down my thoughts emediately helps me remember to write about what moves me at the moment. I have issues remembering things so it helps a lot. I was wondering if my baby was the only one. After she was born people would be in and out of our room all night being loud and moving her, but she slept. Our bathroom door slightly creaked in the room and it’d always wake her so we left it open. I always thought it odd.

  5. I enjoyed this post. God has reminded me the importance of rest. Rest is trusting God. Thank you for reminding everyone the importance of trusting God by resting.
