Scars

Most of us were born with skin so soft and fresh, but a few of us will leave this world with skin so soft and fresh. We all have scars to show for our experience here on earth. Our scars show what we have been through. They tell stories of our victories. Even the little one has scars to show for the little time he has spent on earth. Occasionally, he comes home from daycare with a mark on his face or boo boo on his leg. Hopefully, the little one is learning from these experiences. It feels like he is already fighting his own battles in the world. This is one reason we should pour out our love and give our children attention at home. The home should be the safest and most loving place for our children. They do not deserve to fight outside the home and come home to another fight.

This season, I consider scars as trials of faith. For one to grow in faith, faith must be tried. Seasons of waiting and persevering always leave a mark for the next trial. One can always reflect on the experience and have hope that the God who gave one victory the last time will not put one to shame this time. We learn from our experience and history with God. In God’s kingdom, we learn from the battles, the scars, and we embrace the good fight of faith.

Romans 5:3-5

And not only [so], but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

  1. I love this! So good! I’m now comfortable with my scars because like you said, they show what God has brought me through. It’s took several years to get to that point. Great post!

  2. Absolutely sis. The trails and stormy waters we face, makes us who we are. It’s part of our story and it definitely heightens our growth. Like a good sailor is best known by the storms he or she has sailed through and overcome.

    I had lots of scars on my leg while growing up. Thank God now I am gentle. I have learned better. 😁

  3. These posts are so wonderful. As I read them it just occur to me that I can share your blog with someone who recently has a baby or have young children. I will endeavor to do this.

  4. I’m not sure if you’re familiar with the song Scars but we sing it at church and in fact just sang it yesterday morning..I can’t even begin to sing it without the hot sting of tears to lead me through, it’s just so meaningful to me as I can finally consider how truly thankful I am for my emotional scars: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DILOtmt9nww

  5. The scars left from my wounds tells stories of who I am, what I’ve learned, how I see how God has shielded and protected me and how I live differently after the transformation through the power of the Holy Spirit.
