Scars

Most of us were born with skin so soft and fresh, but a few of us will leave this world with skin so soft and fresh. We all have scars to show for our experience here on earth. Our scars show what we have been through. They tell stories of our victories. Even the little one has scars to show for the little time he has spent on earth. Occasionally, he comes home from daycare with a mark on his face or boo boo on his leg. Hopefully, the little one is learning from these experiences. It feels like he is already fighting his own battles in the world. This is one reason we should pour out our love and give our children attention at home. The home should be the safest and most loving place for our children. They do not deserve to fight outside the home and come home to another fight.

This season, I consider scars as trials of faith. For one to grow in faith, faith must be tried. Seasons of waiting and persevering always leave a mark for the next trial. One can always reflect on the experience and have hope that the God who gave one victory the last time will not put one to shame this time. We learn from our experience and history with God. In God’s kingdom, we learn from the battles, the scars, and we embrace the good fight of faith.

Romans 5:3-5

And not only [so], but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
