Mine Mine Mine

When the little one wants something he has no word for, he says “mine”. He doesn’t not care who owns it. If he wants it, it’s “mine”. This behavior got me thinking about the power in claiming what is rightfully ours based on God’s Word. If God says it is mine, then I want it. I want that which was custom made for me by God. I want to see everything Jesus paid for with his blood become a reality in my life and I know one way to get started.

I like what the message translation says in Romans 12:1-2

So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

My key sentence here is: Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for Him.

If we refuse to accept what God says in His Word about our lives, we deprive ourselves of several opportunities to be a blessing to others and enjoy the benefits of being God’s children. Embracing what God says in his Word concerning our lives is the best way to express our gratitude to God and bring glory to God.

PS: The semester suddenly got real. I will keep posts short and simple.
