Being Present

The best part of my day was giving the little one my undivided attention. I had a paper due, blog post to write, house to clean up, and a book launch to prepare for…But, I told myself everything must wait. Being present with the little one brought me joy, hugs and kisses, and everything fell in place afterwards.

My paper was submitted, blog post is about to be posted, and preparation for my book launch can wait till tomorrow.

Being present with the little one today reminds me of A Little Longer by Jenn Johnson.

My favorite parts of the song:

Then I hear You say
You don’t have to do a thing
Simply be with me and
Let those things go
They can wait another minute
Wait this moment
Is too sweet
Please stay here with me
And love on Me a little longer
‘Cause I’m in love with you

So I’ll wait here at Your feet
It’s where I want to be
Your voice I’ll follow
Jesus You are
Everything to me
And I’ll pour out my life
Worship at Your feet
Love on You a little longer
‘Cause I’m in love with You

When we put God first, everything else falls in place. When we purpose in our hearts to chase what matters, things will begin to fall in place. Be present in God’s presence. Be present during family time. More than we can imagine, our children long for us to notice them and be present with them. I am talking to me.

Thank you for your support.

  1. This is excellent article. Congratulations on the book launch. Being present is an excellent form of true love. Thank you for the reminder.

  2. This is excellent, Temi. Our children can tell whether or not we are present for them.
Being present for our children also trains our children how to become excellent listeners, and how to be present to others, and, importantly, how to be present to God. 🤗

  3. Oh yes! Your baby takes first place over other stuff. You are a wonderful mom. I have nominated you for the Fix your Crown Award. It will be published tomorrow evening at 4pm. Feel free to respond anytime. Have a blessed weekend.

  4. Love it! Yes, being present is so important. During this time with Co-Vid19, I keep hearing, “Be Still and Know that I am God.” We have to be present and still to hear from our Father. Life is learning isn’t it? Distraction is part of the crazy world we live in – but look now. Everything is still and quiet. What an opportunity to be present in the lives of those we love and in our relationship with Jesus! 🙂

    1. Yes. I will confess that it is sometimes difficult to be present when I decide to turn my affection and heart towards God. Different thoughts and to-dos flood my mind, i am still learning how to push through. Thank you for reflecting with me.♥️

      1. We’re all in the same boat, Temi. Broken humans who love God and need reminders to put first things first. 🙂 His grace covers us! We of all people are so blessed!

  5. Thanks for sharing this sis. True, we always have a lot to do but when we make God our priority, He aids and strengthens us to get done everything other thing.
    Keep aglow. 🤗
