The Joy of Potty-Training

Parents of toddlers understand that the key to successful potty training is to celebrate every step the child takes on the way to becoming potty trained.

Social isolation has presented my family with the opportunity to be more consistent in potty training the little one. There have been moments of frustration but they pale in comparison to the many moments of celebration.

Many items can be used as reinforcers during potty training. My family prefers using verbal praise and activities that make pottying emotionally rewarding for the little one. We have studied him and tailored his potty training with his strengths in mind. You can read more about potty training here

The joy of potty training and the celebration involved reminds me of this scripture:

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us- Hebrews 12:1

I can imagine that God and the saints in heaven celebrate our victories. They celebrate our decision to walk in love, to do good instead of evil, and they celebrate our repentance. We are not alone. Heaven is rooting for us as we seek to please the Almighty God and live a life wholly devoted to Jehovah.

  1. I remember those days. I was so frustrated but then I understood that she was supposed to be the one ready and not me. We waited a bit and our first day of potty training was a picture of me cleaning the carpet and sofa every time by daughter would stare at me and say: Oh no, not another accident! (I was so frustrated back then but now I just smile thinking just how adorable she was)

  2. Heaven is rooting for us to keep living the godly life. They’ve been where we are and they’re saying, “don’t stop, keep going! It’s going to be worth it in the end. The word witness is someone who tells what they’ve heard, seen and experience to the point that they are willing to give their life up for what they’ve heard, seen and experience.
