Jehovah is Our Source

As families face job and income loss this season, parents are concerned about the future of their children. Many worry about the daunting task of finding another job, losing their homes, feeding and clothing their children. This situation presents an opportunity for us to look to God as our source. For those living in capitalist societies, this is not the time to wish for socialism where the government provides your basic needs.

It is time to pray for God’s will to prevail in our nations and finances. It is time to sow in tears, in famine and with a joyful heart. It is time to give. It is time to declutter and give to those who have less. It is time to reflect on the importance of living a debt-free life. It is time to have faith in Jehovah, the almighty God.

I believe we should hold our governments accountable but we should never depend on our governments or our jobs as our source of provision. Good governance and jobs are channels we should be thankful to have. Yet, we should not forget the one who uses different channels to provide.

Growing up an orphan, I looked to God for provision. I believed only God’s favor upon my life could get me all I need. This belief has not changed. Complete dependence on God has gotten me where I am today. In different seasons, God used different people to help me and He has done it in such a way that no one can say “if I had not helped her, she would not be where she is”. When I looked to people to help me, they disappointed me. Only God did not and does not disappoint those who look to Him.

Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces. Psalm 34:5

As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” Romans 10:11

As I work less hours, I am not moved or worried. As people get fired at my spouse’s workplace, I remain unbothered because I know who ultimately provides for my family. If you believe in Jesus and you are a sower/giver, I would like to encourage you to meditate on these scriptures when you are tempted to worry:

Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. Matthew 6:31-34

The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing. Psalm 34:10

And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. 2 Corinthians 9:8

Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness. 2 Corinthians 9:10

Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. Luke 6:38

These are some scriptures on divine provision. God wants to bless you and He wants you to be a channel of blessing. Did you notice most of those verses are in the New Testament? A period where believers were selfless in giving and Jesus addressed the keys to divine provision.

My book is timely for this season. It teaches mothers how to put God first and partner with God in every season. Read the preview and get yourself a copy!♥️

  5. As always, you are so encouraging. I was sad to miss the launch ~but am trying to balance work and writing and ended up working that day. I still have not had a Zoom session. Your link was the only one I’ve had. I’ve enjoyed FaceTiming my adult children and should still try it. I will look forward to reading your book someday soon.
