Models of Forgiveness

Just like good parents do not like to keep record of their children’s wrongs, God does not take pleasure in keeping record of our wrongs. God is more willing to forgive and desires a relationship with us. Fellowship is the heart of the  father. God is far greater, loving, patient, and enduring in mercy than earthly parents. God’s arms are always wide open to embrace us and His love does not give up on us.

When we miss it or stray, God wants us to come back to him. Anytime our little ones misbehave, we do not hold back when they come to us. Eventhough we know little children will misbehave over and over again as they learn and grow, it is the nature of good parents to forgive. As we forgive our children without bringing up their past misdeeds,  we model what forgiveness looks like. As they grow in their relationship with the heavenly father, they will most likely find it easy to turn to God when they fall short. How we parent impacts our children’s understanding of the heavenly father’s love and forgiveness.

Prayer: Heavenly father, teach me to parent my children and forgive wholeheartedly. Empower me to always turn to you in moments of weakness. In Jesus’ name. Amen

For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.~ Hebrews 8:12

I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins. ~ Isaiah 43:25

Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. ~ James 4:8

  1. Yes sis. The first teachers a child has is his or her parents.
I pray for wisdom to model Christ to the children He will give unto me. Amen!. 🙏
Thanks for sharing big sis. ❤

    1. Amen! You can teach a parenting class with all you have learned. I am happy that you take the time to equip yourself in this area. Your unborn children are blessed. 🙏❤

  2. As parents I think we forget at times that God forgets our sins and that He hold no record of wrong. Yet when our kids mess up, we keep record. For example, let’s say Debbie wants to ride her bike but we will say no you cannot because the last time I let you ride your bike you rode all in the grass and brought the grass into the house.

God would never do that to us. We are not perfect parents but with God’s help He can help us to be better parents every day.

  3. I think getting older teaches you to forgive just like our God does. My granddaughter asked me why I do not stay mad at her when she does something wrong like her mom does. With age comes wisdom.
