Christian Perspective: Gender Neutral Parenting

I would like to address gender neutral parenting- a discourse going around in mom support groups and other parenting groups. Gender neutral parenting means raising a child without identifying him or her as male or female. The goal is to allow children to freely choose whatever gender they feel. Some states in the United States already allow parents to choose “X” as a gender on their baby’s birth certificate. Parents are now being shamed for having gender reveal parties. Those shaming them say a gender reveal party is a weird celebration of genitals.

For those who call themselves Christians,  the Bible tells us the two sexes and gender- male and female. Anything else is not Biblical. Please don’t ask me about those born with two sex organs. Those are rare cases just like  babies born with deformities. If your child has male genitals, that child has male hormones and the male brain is in few ways uniquely different. Genesis 5:2 says “He created them male and female, and blessed them and called them Mankind in the day they were created.”

I understand that what I have written is not popular opinion,  that’s okay.. The Word of God is not popular and we cannot change the Bible to suit our feelings or culture. Dear Christians,  we are not called to do life based on our feelings or general opinion. The Bible says God created man, male and female. So, your child is either a male or female. If you disagree. Please show us where it is written in the Bible.

Isaiah 5:20~ Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Personally, I do not allow academic institutions or culture determine my views on life. God’s word shapes my views on life.

God bless you ❤

PS: The Bible teaches us to train up our children in the way they should go (Proverbs 22:6). As Christian parents, it is our duty to help our children discern wrong from right from an early age and guide their choices. It doesn’t mean we are imposing things on them. It means we are following what God says and raising emotionally healthy children. In a few years, it would be great to study the mental health of children raised with the “gender neutral” ideology.
