I Don’t Have To, I Get To

I received several reminders to share this post today. This year has had its ups and downs, yet, I have not found myself wishing the year was over already. I am still dreaming and hoping for God’s best in my life, family, the Church, my community and nations. Y’all, this year is still loaded with great things. You can dream and believe again. I choose gratitude even when there may be things to complain about. Murmuring is an expression of ingratitude and it does no good to the spirit, soul, and body. It is time to change the narrative by changing our mind and words.

For me, I am glad:

I get to cook everyday.

I get to own and manage a company.

I get to homeschool the little one and go to the park with him.

I get to read a lot of articles and write a lot of papers this semester.

I get to use whatever resources are available to achieve my current goals.

I get to do all these things because I am alive and well. That’s something to be thankful for.

What’s that overwhelming situation you honestly cannot change? It’s time to change your perception and change how you speak about that situation. You would not only feel less helpless, a sense of gratitude may overwhelm you.

Check out my 2019 I Don’t Have To, I Get To post.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 ~ In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Staying thankful/grateful may be tough to do this season. However, consider it a sacrifice and an act of obedience God will surely reward.

Stay blessed and be encouraged.

  1. Apt!. Gratitude refocuses us and helps us see the good more than the “not good” or bad as the case may be. 💯
I am thankful for life and all I get to do daily even if it’s to do a few things in the house. 🙌
