Who Do You Look Like?

Why do some married couples begin to look alike over time? Why do they also seem to be experts in telepathic communication? “You look like the one you love and spend time with” was the answer that came to mind, and I was drawn to the following Bible verses:

Walking in close fellowship with God. Then one day he disappeared, because God took him. ~ Genesis 5:24

Now it was so, when Moses came down from Mount Sinai (and the two tablets of the Testimony were in Moses’ hand when he came down from the mountain), that Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone while he talked with Him. ~Exodus 34:29

And as he was praying, the appearance of his face was transformed, and his clothes became dazzling white. ~ Luke 9:29

When we spend quality time with our spouse and children, we get to know their hearts, dislikes, thoughts, dreams and more. It informs how we communicate or do life with them.

When we spend quality time with God, we become like him daily. We take on the love nature of our heavenly father as we bring ourselves before Him daily in prayer, meditating on the Word, worshiping, and doing what the Holy Spirit impresses on our hearts to do in fellowship.

When we spend time with the father, our minds are renewed and we begin to set our affection on heavenly things as stated in Colossians 3:2 ~Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. Consistently spending quality time with God will ultimately inform our views on the issues of life, how we do life and respond to life events.

I pray that we will never be too busy to consistently walk with God, grow in love with our spouses, and attend to the needs of our children. I pray that our hearts will be fixed on things that have eternal value, that we would learn to abide in God’s presence.
