Humility: The Heart of Christmas

As I hold a very dependent and vulnerable little one in my arms this Christmas, I am captivated by the humility God modeled. Truly, God modeled humility by taking on mortal flesh for our sake. The greatest one became a little one. The strongest one became one of the weakest and most vulnerable ones. He did it for love. Humility is one of the greatest expressions of love. If God humbled himself, we ought to humble ourselves this Christmas and everyday.

God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him.  This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other. No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us. 1 John 4:9-11 (NLT)

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 (KJV)

Say this: Heavenly Father,
I acknowledge that I am a sinner. I believe you exist and you sent Jesus to die for me. I receive your love and forgiveness. Reveal yourself to me. I accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Amen

Welcome to God’s family!
