Do Not Waste Your Pain

“Do not waste your pain” became my theme few years ago. I had covid while pregnant last year. It was a painful but fearless experience because God walked my family through. I lost my senses of smell and taste, and it lasted into my birthday. I could not eat Chinese rice as my birthday treat, and I could not smell the perfume I was gifted. I learned to appreciate the things I had taken for granted. More beautiful is the fact that many have been blessed and will continue to be comforted by my experience because I wrote 2 short devotionals about my experience and God’s goodness through it all. God comforts us so we can comfort others. Pain is a necessary part of life but more beautiful is the fact that God causes all things to work together for the good of his children. Don’t waste your pain, my friends. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade, drink it and share with others.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NIV)

Day 5

Laugh. Be Merry.

There was one good thing about losing my sense of smell- I did not have to deal with unpleasant odors. While this can be considered dangerous, I was able to laugh about it because it presented me several opportunities to closely examine my toddler’s poop without dealing with the smell.

Parents of infants and toddlers know the importance of daily stool examination. Stool examination tells us a lot about our children’s diet and health.

In our lowest moments, there is always something to laugh about.

Proverbs 17:22 (KJV) says, “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.”

Laughter is therapeutic. Find something to laugh about, let your heart be merry, and let hope arise in you. Reflect on good memories.

May your heart be merry, and your mouth be filled with laughter in Jesus‘ name.

Stay blessed. Have a restful weekend and be merry!

PS: Feel free to share your experience as well. I want to know. Testimonies are prophetic and encouraging. How are you NOT wasting your pain? Perhaps we can have a Testimony Party!

Would you like to become a member of God’s family? Please say the prayer below and let me know about it here.

Say this: Heavenly Father,
I acknowledge that I am a sinner. I believe you exist and you sent Jesus to die for me. I receive your love and forgiveness. Reveal yourself to me. I accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Amen

Welcome to God’s family!
