Jesus on Marriage

“Haven’t you read the Scriptures?” Jesus replied. “They record that from the beginning ‘God made them male and female.” And he said, “‘This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.’Since they are no longer two but one, let no one split apart what God has joined together.” Matthew 19:4-6 (NLT)

There is a lot to unpack from these scriptures. I will leave three points for reflection:

God’s will is a monogamous marriage between a man and a woman.

Fathers and mothers should raise up a MAN who can be joined to HIS WIFE.

God’s equation is different from ours; two become one. The concept of finding one’s better half should be questioned. Let’s normalize being whole before getting married.

Wise friends, what else can we glean from these Bible verses?

Would you like to become a member of God’s family? Please say the prayer below and let me know about it here.

Say this: Heavenly Father,
I acknowledge that I am a sinner. I believe you exist and you sent Jesus to die for me. I receive your love and forgiveness. Reveal yourself to me. I accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Amen

Welcome to God’s family!

  1. Hi Temi !
I agree. Individuals should be emotionally mature before marriage, so they should not be seeking their ‘better half’.

Thanks for reminding us of the sanctity of marriage, and let us pray for all married couples, and those seeking marriage. 🤗🌼🌷

        1. Amen. For a long time, I have heard people say Jesus did not say much about marriage. As I read the scriptures, I realized Jesus said a lot about marriage. He addressed the purpose of marriage and more. Studying God’s Word is an important way to keep one grounded in the faith.

          1. Yes, exactly, Temi, so true, and wise. People say many things, but the ultimate authority is God, and He is so pleased when we study His word, and follow His direction. 🤗🌼🌷
