Lost

My usual morning foray found me in line at my favorite coffee shop. In front of me stood a young teen boy, perhaps a freshman in high school dressed in NFL football gear to warm his morning. Brrrr! It was a subzero morning standard for winter. The teen boy avoided eye contact and stood back the current 6 feet distance from the customer ahead.

I observed his eyes watching two teen girls walk into the place. One colorful red-haired teen, maybe a sophomore, was speaking loudly to her female friend about considering the option of being a lesbian. She shared in anticipation of what it may be like. She described being at her current boyfriend’s house and seeing his sister as pretty and maybe a consideration.

Her coffee shop buddy just affirmed her with phrases such as yeah, for sure, I agree, nervously fidgeting. My heart felt so sad for the depravity. A lost generation guided by CRT and other ideologies meant to destroy them.

I watched as the young man ahead of me, shy and anxious, glanced back at them. His brow furrowed, fidgeting with his wallet, whose images were rainbows. He was alone, and loneliness emanated from his body.

I prayed for these children of God who probably have never met Him. The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). God created these children in his image for an amazing purpose. However, they are choosing or following a dead-end street.

Without God, loneliness, anxiety, fear, discontent, despair, depression, and perhaps addictions will be their destinations. Oh, how the heart of our Savior grieves. He made them for good things. Jesus wants to fill the empty spaces. He wants to guide these lives to so much more.

My prayer, “Lord Jesus, I pray that these precious teens would have an intersection with You. There must be someone close that can talk to them. Lord save them from their hormones, impulses, the liberal mindsets before it’s too late.”

They may feel like the lost generation to us; however, what are we doing to provide love, wisdom, and hope? My heart felt pricked by my Savior. Sitting next to the girls, I pray for their lives, souls, and a transformed heart.

As I sat behind the girls, their conversation continued. I felt prompted to walk out of the shop when they chose to leave. The Lord provided a distraction, an older man had a colorful tropical bird on his shoulder. The girls asked if they could get a photograph.

While they were enthralled in the experience, I reached into my car and pulled out Ray comforts’ million-dollar gospel track.

I gave each of them a “Million dollar book of John” by Ray Comfort. Father, let this amazing gospel track be a place they start to seek You and you alone. I pray they open their eyes, heart, and soul to the only one who can fill it.

They tucked the book in their pocket and glanced back at me. I smiled. Let go and let God!

The LORD is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He will not constantly accuse us, nor remain angry forever. He does not punish us for all our sins; he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve. For his unfailing love toward those who fear him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west. The LORD is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him. For he knows how weak we are; he remembers we are only dust. Our days on earth are like grass; like wildflowers, we bloom and die. The wind blows, and we are gone- as though we had never been here. But the love of the LORD remains forever with those who fear him. His salvation extends to the children’s children of those who are faithful to his covenant, of those who obey his commandments! The LORD has made the heavens his throne; from there he rules over everything. Praise the LORD, you angels, you mighty ones who carry out his plans, listening for each of his commands. Yes, praise the LORD, you armies of angels who serve him and do his will! Praise the LORD, everything he has created, everything in all his kingdom. Let all that I am praise the LORD.

Psalm 103:8-22 NLT

  1. Thank you for sharing your empathetic observations and the caring you showed by giving the teens the gospel tracks. Your thoughtfulness may touch their hearts and their souls.

    1. I appreciate your kind words, initially I hesitated, then I thought of my own kids and others I know, I felt convicted not condemned for those thoughts. When I saw the older man with a colorful bird after I asked the Lord to show me what to do, it blew my mind. It’s not me it’s Him. God bless you!
