There was a time when I did not know God’s purpose for my life, and I took a career path that I thought was good for me at that time. I felt a job would help me earn good money to prevent financial struggles.
Things changed when I discovered my calling—to teach women the Word of God. With this revelation, it did not matter what anyone told me. I had finally figured out what God called me to do. It was such a great relief because I could now write goals in line with God’s calling and purpose for my life.
As excited as I was, I quickly learned that unless I stood on my conviction, there were people, well-meaning friends, who thought they knew what I was supposed to do and took it upon myself to give me what they considered the “best advice.” They did not know that their advice was not in line with what God had called me to do. I thanked them and continued to write goals that would ultimately help me accomplish God’s will for my life.
I have read several books in my journey to accomplishing my God-given purpose. Several books have impacted and encouraged me. One of the books that I have enjoyed reading is Instinct by Bishop TD. Jakes. In the book, he stated, “Instinct and imaginations become the parents of our creative visions. They allow us to see opportunities where others see only limitations.”
Often, people see our limitations because our lives may not currently reflect the assignment God has given us. Others look at our family background and wonder why God would use or choose us.
Consider this: David was a shepherd, and he was unqualified for kingship in his father’s eyes (1 Samuel 16:1-13). I mean, how! How would a boy who is always with sheep have any potential? But God saw a man after His own heart (1 Samuel 13:14; Acts 13:22).
I encourage you to see yourself as greater than the limitations people placed on you—Envisioning yourself accomplishing God’s will for your life is essential. Consider your calling as an opportunity to serve God and humanity.

- Put in the work
Always encourage yourself with the Word of God. When you are discouraged, I pray you will remember Philippians 1:6, “…he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
