This month at Christian Mommas, we are exploring Covenant Love—the kind of love that is not rooted in emotion, but in promise. Covenant love is anchored, sacrificial, intentional, and enduring. It reflects the very nature of God.
When we speak of covenant, we are speaking of the love modeled through Christ and His Church (Ephesians 5:25). It is not fleeting affection; it is steadfast devotion. And yet, many women struggle with one critical dimension of covenant love: extending it to themselves.
Understanding Self-Love Through a Kingdom Lens
Biblical self-love is not vanity, self-absorption, or cultural self-exaltation. It is in agreement with Heaven concerning your identity.
Jesus commands us to “love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:31). Implicit in this command is the assumption that we possess a healthy understanding of how to love ourselves rightly. Self-love in covenant terms means:
- Honoring the imago Dei (Latin for “Image of God”) within you.
- Stewarding your body, mind, and spirit responsibly.
- Refusing internal dialogue that contradicts God’s Word.
- Embracing discipline as devotion, not punishment.
When covenant love is absent internally, it becomes difficult to express it consistently in marriage, motherhood, leadership, and community.
This week, I invite you to intentionally walk through the Self-Love: 3 Ways to Love Yourself Bible Plan on YouVersion. Allow Scripture to recalibrate how you see yourself. Self-love that is rooted in covenant will produce peace, clarity, and spiritual authority in your home.

Covenant love is not only something we extend outward. It is something we steward inward. As wives, mothers, and Kingdom women, we must learn to walk in self-love that is disciplined, surrendered, and Spirit-led.
This week, let your self-talk sound like Scripture.
Let your boundaries reflect wisdom.
Let your rest demonstrate trust.
Covenant love begins at home—and that home includes your own heart.
With Love,
The Christian Mommas Team
