Today, as we celebrate Mothers worldwide, we pause to express our profound gratitude for the women who courageously and selflessly embrace the noble calling of motherhood. Before we shower you with words of encouragement and appreciation for your invaluable contributions to humanity, let’s dive into the origin of Mother’s Day in the United States.
Throughout history, mothers have wielded significant influence on society through the lens of Scripture and our cultural experiences. In America, the seeds of Mother’s Day were sown by a woman deeply inspired by her mother’s dedication to fostering friendship and promoting good health among women. Moved by her mother’s impactful work, she organized a memorial service at her mother’s church, not to mourn her passing but to celebrate her life and legacy, highlighting her invaluable contributions to the local community. Over time, this heartfelt tribute gained momentum, leading President Woodrow Wilson to officially designate Mother’s Day as a national holiday in 1914.
This narrative calls to mind the enduring legacy of biblical matriarchs like Sarah, often hailed as the Mother of Many Nations, and Mrs. Noah, who pivotally restored God’s design for womanhood in a world undergoing profound transformation. Their influence continues to resonate through the ages, serving as timeless models of faith, resilience, and motherly love.
Reflecting on my journey as a mother, I recall moments of imparting wisdom to my children, echoing the timeless adage, “I have eyes in the back of my head.” With wonder, they marveled, “Mom, you have eyes in the back of your head?” To which I lovingly responded, “Of course, my dear. I have the two eyes God gave me and the discernment of the Holy Spirit guiding me from behind.”

A lengthy list of accolades doesn’t measure your impact, but rather, as seen with the biblical figures mentioned, by faithfully embracing the role of wife and mother that God has entrusted to you. Their enduring influence stems from their righteousness and selflessness in nurturing children who would make a lasting impact on the world. From my children’s perspective, this seemingly ordinary yet significant moment served as a potent reminder of God’s tools and abilities bestowed upon us. It marks the planting of a seed of faith.
Indeed, as mothers, we wield a power beyond measure—a sacred privilege to nurture and mold the hearts and minds of the next generation. While motherhood may not come with health insurance or monetary compensation, its impact reverberates far beyond earthly measures. We have the profound honor of embodying the words of our Creator, shaping young minds as vessels of His grace and truth.
To every mother reading this, know that you are doing an incredible job, particularly if you are raising your children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. Today, we celebrate you, honor you, and offer our heartfelt gratitude for your immeasurable contributions to the world around us.
A Mother’s Impact
In quiet grace, she kneels to pray,
Guiding hearts along life’s way.
With love that knows no end or measure,
She embodies God’s eternal treasure.
Her gentle hands, a soothing balm,
Through trials faced, she stays calm.
In every hug, a touch of grace,
Reflecting God’s own warm embrace.
With wisdom gleaned from heaven’s store,
She nurtures souls forevermore.
Her faith, a beacon in the night,
Guiding us toward the Source of Light.
To every Christian mother, dear,
On this special day, let’s cheer!
For in your love, we see God’s face,
A testament to His endless grace.
Happy Mother’s Day!
