Holy Week Devotional Series | Day 3: There Is a Time for Everything

Day 3: There Is a Time for Everything

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens…” – Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NIV)

As we continue this sacred journey through Holy Week, we pause today to reflect on a powerful and often overlooked truth: God’s timing is perfect, even when it’s painful.

There was a time for Christ to be born. A time for the long-awaited Messiah to emerge from Mary’s womb and fulfill centuries of prophecy. At that moment, heaven’s timeline collided with earth’s reality, and voices like Simeon and Prophetess Anna rejoiced in the temple, knowing they were witnessing a divine appointment. It was, indeed, a time of great fulfillment.

But that was only the beginning.

Jesus Lived a Life of Divine Timing

Every moment in the life of Jesus was deeply intentional—a holy rhythm that followed heaven’s calendar. There was a time to be about His Father’s business (Luke 2:49), a time to teach in the synagogue, a time to turn water into wine, a time to feed thousands, and a time to walk on water.

There was a time to weep, a time to restore, a time to cast out demons, a time to cleanse the temple, a time to bless the children, and a time to prepare for betrayal.

Yes, even betrayal had its place on heaven’s clock.

The Cross Wasn’t Bad Timing—It Was God’s Perfect Plan

Some struggle with the question: What if Jesus didn’t have to die? But to ask that is to miss the beauty in the pain. Christ’s death was never an accident. It wasn’t poor planning. It was perfect purpose.

“You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.” – Romans 5:6

Jesus was the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8); His crucifixion wasn’t plan B. It was always the plan. The betrayal, the denial, the mocking, the beating, the public spectacle—none of it was wasted. All of it was part of the divine orchestration of salvation.

God’s timing unveiled His heart.

His justice met His mercy. His holiness met our humanity. His sacrifice opened the door to eternity.

Time to Reflect. Time to Surrender.

As mothers, we understand timing in a unique way—when to feed, when to teach, when to discipline, when to release. But how often do we pause and ask: What is God’s timing in my life right now?

Jesus modeled perfect surrender with the words, “Not My will, but Yours be done” (Luke 22:42). He trusted the Father’s timing—even when it led to a cruel cross.

We must do the same.

This week, as we meditate on the sufferings of Christ, we are invited to make peace with the pain. To acknowledge that there was a time for cruelty—and in that very cruelty, God birthed compassion. There was a time for shame—and through it, we received salvation.

There was a time to die…
So that there would be a time to live.

Don’t Waste This Time

Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” Even on the cross, mercy flowed from His lips.

The enemy may have thought the crucifixion would be the end, but instead, it became our beginning. The mockers couldn’t stop the movement. The Roman nails couldn’t silence the hope. They could pierce His hands, but they could never take His legacy.

So, mama—let’s live in that legacy.

Let’s worship, honor, love, and obey while we still have time.

Today’s Invitation

Ask the Holy Spirit:

What time am I in right now?
Where do I need to surrender to the timing of God in my life?
Am I honoring this season by trusting His purpose, even when it hurts?

May your heart echo the prayer Jesus taught us:

“Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” – Matthew 6:10

Let’s live in reverence of the time we’ve been given—and may we never take the sacrifice for granted.
