The Promises of God for Mothers Part 2

A Heartfelt Greeting to All Our Readers!

If you’ve been following our journey here at Christian Mommas, you know we’ve been exploring the wonderful promises of God, specifically tailored for mothers. Earlier this week, we dived into some of these promises, offering wisdom and comfort to all of us navigating the path of motherhood. Today, as we conclude our Promise Keeper Series, I want to continue in that spirit of encouragement.

First and foremost, let’s take a moment to honor and celebrate every mother. The role of a mother is not an easy one, yet it is incredibly significant. Whether you are raising spiritual children, nurturing biological children, adopting, serving as a foster parent, filling in the gaps as a parent, guiding students as an educator, or loving on your grandchildren or stepchildren, your love, mentorship, and care are worthy of daily recognition. Remembering God’s promises not only uplifts us but also reassures us that we are not walking this journey alone or in our strength.

I want to share a personal testimony of how God’s promises were alive and active in my life in 2011. That year was full of new beginnings for my husband and me. We had just moved into our first home, and shortly after closing, we found out we were expecting our second child. What should have been a time of joy was overshadowed by fear, as my first pregnancy had been difficult, requiring bed rest from the early months.

At 20 weeks pregnant, I was involved in a single-car accident—a terrifying collision between myself, my unborn baby, and a highway sign. As the rain poured down, my car hydroplaned off the highway, flipping over multiple times before colliding with a tree. When I regained consciousness, I had no memory of how the car ended up where it did. Miraculously, I survived with only a small scratch on my chin. As I was rushed to the hospital, my only thought was whether my baby was okay. To my immense relief, the ultrasound revealed a baby boy who seemed completely unfazed, moving around as if nothing had happened.

At that moment, I repented for the fear that had gripped me and began a journey of deep faith in God’s word. I share this story to remind you that as mothers, we will face unprecedented challenges, but with every challenge, there is a promise from God. 1 Corinthians 10:13-16 TPT states “We all experience times of testing, which is normal for every human being. But God will be faithful to you. He will screen and filter the severity, nature, and timing of every test or trial that you face so that you can bear it. And each test is an opportunity to trust him more.”

Here are a few promises to reflect on:

Unfailing Love

A mother’s love for her children is profound, but God’s love is even greater. He promises never to forget us, offering His unwavering love and care.

Isaiah 49:15 (NIV): “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!”

Hope and a Future

God has wonderful plans for us and our children. This promise provides hope for the future, assuring us that God is in control and has a purpose for our lives.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV): “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

When I was expecting, the Lord gave me a promise for my child. Even though there was trauma associated with my previous pregnancy, deep down, I knew He had special plans for my unborn son.

Faithfulness and Trust

We can rely on God’s faithfulness, trusting that He will fulfill His promises and be with us every step of the way.

Lamentations 3:22-23 (NIV): “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

Rest and Renewal

Motherhood can be exhausting, but God offers us rest and renewal. He invites us to come to Him for the refreshment our souls need.

Matthew 11:28-29 (NIV): “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Conclusion

As mothers, we can draw immense comfort and assurance from the promises of God. He is our source of strength, wisdom, peace, and provision. His love for us is unchanging, and His plans for us are good. Let’s cling to these promises, trusting in His faithfulness and finding rest in His presence. May these scriptures uplift you, reminding you that you are never alone on this journey of motherhood.

  2. Beautiful and powerful post! Thank you for sharing your testimony–it led me on a meditative journey. God is faithful and merciful! The spirit of fear is real, but the Spirit of God within us empowers us to subjugate fear and we can rest in the love of our heavenly Father, the promise keeper.
