Divine Decision Making

Last week on the blog, we explored the creative nature of God through artistic expression. Today, I feel led to discuss a topic that is both delicate and deeply meaningful: embracing divine decisions in our lives. A particular scripture has been resonating with me, and I believe it is time to share a message on the importance of making godly decisions. I sense that someone in our community is currently facing a crucial decision. I encourage you, do not let fear guide you, but move forward in faith. Hold steadfastly to the truths of God.

Today, let’s look at the story of Lot’s daughters as a sobering example of what happens when decisions are made from a place of fear rather than faith. After the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Lot and his daughters found themselves isolated in a cave, believing they were the last people on Earth. Driven by fear and desperation, Lot’s daughters made a decision that went against God’s will; they got their father drunk and conceived children through him (Genesis 19:30-38).

Sometimes, fear can manifest even when we are trying to do the right thing, not out of a desire to cause harm or with the deliberate intent of relying on our own understanding. Can you relate? I certainly can. What might seem harmless to us can be detrimental to our destiny.

The story of Lot’s daughters shows the consequences of making decisions outside of God’s will. They were driven by fear of loneliness, extinction, and the unknown. Instead of trusting God to provide for them, they took matters into their own hands. Their actions led to the birth of Moab and Ammon, two nations that would become long-standing adversaries of Israel (Deuteronomy 23:3-4).

The Bible repeatedly warns against fear-driven decisions and the consequences of stepping outside of God’s will. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” When we rely on our understanding and let fear dictate our choices, we can stray far from God’s intended path for us. The daughters of Lot leaned on their understanding, and as a result, their actions had far-reaching consequences.

Making decisions out of fear can be detrimental to our destinies. In contrast, moving in faith aligns us with God’s plan and brings about His perfect will for our lives. Romans 8:28 assures us, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”When we trust God, even when circumstances seem dire, He can turn any situation for our good.

If you are in the process of making a crucial decision, take this as a reminder to pause and seek God’s guidance. Don’t allow fear to cloud your judgment. Instead, lean into your faith and trust in God’s promises. Remember, God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).

When we align with God’s will, we are positioned to fulfill our divine destiny. Trust Him to guide you, and you will experience peace from making decisions rooted in faith and not fear.

I pray this post offers you the guidance you need to make the right decision. We are lifting you up in prayer.
