For the Season of Why Me

The little one’s explorations are sometimes unsafe. When there is a sudden silence in the house, he can be found climbing a high chair to access items on the counter top or digging into the trash for idk what..He once reached for the burner and he sadly felt the heat.

Parents of infants and toddlers know the importance of keeping the physical environment safe their children. We childproof the home and ensure our children are not exposed to unnecessary stress. We don’t endanger our little ones so they can “learn a lesson”.

We only expose them to stress they can tolerate, so they are able to self regulate and handle dysregulating events as they grow up. It is silly to think we can completely shield our little ones from stress. It’s just part of life and stress can be healthy.

In like manner, I believe God doesn’t expose us to trials to “teach us a lesson”. God doesn’t expose His children to trials they cannot handle. Trials are designed to strengthen our faith muscles. They give us a testimony to encourage other people’s faith. Trials lead us to a place of empathy, so we can adequately comfort others and inspire hope.

When we are going through trials and seasons of ‘why me’, let’s remember 1 Corinthians 10:13 and Hebrews 2:18

The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.

1 Corinthians 10:13 (NLT)

Since he himself has gone through suffering and testing, he is able to help us when we are being tested.

Hebrews 2:18 (NLT)

Be encouraged, this too shall pass and it will always end in praise. Shalom!

  1. It is comforting to know that Jesus lived in this world and experienced the hardships of living in this world, so when we go to him in prayer, we know he has sympathy for us.

  2. Jesus is a great example to follow! He endured the cross for our sake. We should always choose to trust God even during tribulations. Great post sister 🙏🏾

  3. Absolutely. He is our High Priest tried in all things yet without sin. He has gone ahead for us and conquered that we also conquer. And also reckons with our individual strengths. God never allows us go through things we can’t handle. Such Grace!. Love the Bible reference – keeps me focused on Him even when it seems tough on me.

  4. God allows us to go through trials to not only increase our faith, sometimes its a result of our disobedience. The scripture says, despise not the chastening of the Lord (Proverbs 3:11).

    1. Yes, sin/disobedience to God gives the enemy permission to do harm. That’s why we need to repent and not abuse God’s grace. Thank you for providing more insight.
