But Jesus answered them, “My Father has been working until now [He has never ceased working], and I too am working.
John 5:17 (AMP)
I am not sure I have attended a marriage seminar since I got married. Other events usually get in the way. Ultimately, it reflects my priority. Last Saturday, my local church hosted a marriage seminar. I had to make a tough decision because I had a lot of work to do as a business owner. However, I yielded to God’s leading and attended the marriage seminar. Listening to Christian couples with marriages spanning over three decades, I realized I need to put more work into my marriage. I confess that I often prioritize my career over my marriage because I have a supportive and understanding spouse. You know, it is easy to take marriage for granted and put the marriage on coast drive when all seems fine in a marriage.
Having a successful marriage does not happen by chance. It takes a continuous and purposeful investment of time and resources to strengthen a marriage. When was the last time you read a Bible-based book or listened to a message on marriage? Do you attend marriage seminars hosted by believers who believe, teach, and live biblical truths on marriage? What are you doing to strengthen your marriage?
If you are single, how many books have you read in preparation for marriage? Are you reading and listening to biblical marriage teachings with your future spouse?
I urge you, my brothers and sisters, to keep working on your marriage like a garden. Let God’s truth be the only truth guiding your marriage. Filter all you read and learn from others with God’s Word.
We should be working on our marriage, parenting, and every area of our lives. And it is only possible with the help of the Holy Spirit (John 14:16). Today, please ask the Holy Spirit to help you see what you need to work on in your marriage and ask Him to lead you to resources that can strengthen your marriage this season (John 16:13).
A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.
Proverbs 24:5 (KJV)
If today was your last day on earth, do you know where you will spend eternity? Are you sure you will make it to heaven? If you are not sure, you need to give your life to Jesus Christ. Please say the prayer below and let me know about it here.
Say this: Heavenly Father,
I acknowledge that I am a sinner. I believe you exist and you sent Jesus to die for me. I receive your love and forgiveness. Reveal yourself to me. I accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Amen
Welcome to God’s family!
Next to our relationship with the Lord, our relationship with our spouse is the most important. It needs that attention from us in order to flourish
Yes, Ms. Brenda. I agree!
Our church is having a date-night for couples next month.
We have not done a couples’ event like this since our oldest child was a baby. We were told it was okay to bring the baby with us, but that was a BAD idea!
We have each gone on church retreats and have taken a few short trips together. So, we are long overdue for an evening like this!
I can’t wait!
Yes! Sounds exciting!💃💃
Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for sharing Ms. Barb! A retreat with Christian couples is a great one. Enjoy!
I read many books on marriage and Godly womanhood in my younger years. Now my husband and I go on a quiet retreat together twice a year where we pray, prioritize and plan for ourselves and our family. It has been very good for our marriage.
Thank you for sharing sis! Going on a retreat is a great practice! I love it!
So important!! I always love the triangle example, with God at the top point and each spouse in the bottom two corners..husband and wife are in alignment with one another, with their focus on God which draws them closer to one another…marriage takes three!!❤️
Yes! That’s a perfect example! Thank you for sharing.
As I stress the big walk, in more ways than down the aisle in 9 days I have been reading more and more about marriages and what it truly takes to overcome life’s challenges as a couple, and to always put God first!
