Then He said, “Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.”
Genesis 22:2 (NKJV)
In Part 2, we pondered this truth- God pays attention to the love between parents and children, and God will hold us accountable for the impact of our parenting (Romans 14:12).
Today, let’s reflect on sacrifice. God instructed Abraham to offer up Isaac as a burnt offering. The situation proved Abraham’s love and faith as a father. Abraham was willing to obey God’s instruction because he believed God loved Isaac more than he loved his son. And he knew God was able to raise Isaac up from the dead (Hebrews 11:19).
As priests in our homes, we must offer up our children to God by embracing the Bible as our parenting guide, seeking and following God’s instructions in every season of parenthood. We must train our subconscious minds to accept this truth- God loves our children more than we love them, and every parenting instruction we receive from God is for our family’s good.
