His Big Voice

Recently, my 5 year old son asked me ,“When is God going to talk to me?”
I answered, “Well, He talks to us every time we read the Bible, bud.”
Apparently, that wasn’t exactly what the answer he wanted.
He further explained himself, “Mama, I mean, when will He use His BIG VOICE? …. Like with Noah!”

While this conversation was totally adorable, a few things stood out to me. God continues to speak to ME through my kids. As I reflected on my son’s comments and questions, there are a few lessons to be learned.

My 5 year old WANTS to hear from God. He LONGS for it. Do I?

Does my prayer life include times of listening and not just me talking? Do I make it a priority to seek His voice in Scripture? Do I read and study on my own or rely only on what OTHERS have heard from the Lord?

May we not forget that He is always speaking. Are we listening intently?

Hebrews 1:2 (NIV) “But in these last days, he has spoken to us by His Son whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom also He made the universe.”
