Loving God: The Key to True Self-Love

And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” Luke 10:27 (CEV)

This is the truth- God wants you to love yourself. It is not an opinion, but an instruction you must take seriously.

Let’s consider the sequence of God’s commandments of love in Luke 10:27

First: Love God with your heart, soul, & strength

Second: Love others as much as you love yourself

Jesus started with the command- love God because the foundation of true self-love and love for others begins with our love for God. As we understand God’s love through the scriptures and communion with the Holy Spirit, we grow in love with God (Romans 5:5) and learn to take care of our spirit, soul, and body in response to God’s love.

For example: When you understand that the forgiveness of your sins and the death of Jesus is an expression of God’s love for you, it will compel you to forgive yourself and others, leading to your emotional and physical healing.

As you grow in love with God by meditating on God’s love letter to you, the Bible, I pray that your roots will grow into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Ephesians 3:17-19 (NLT)

Please personalize and pray Ephesians 3:17-19 as often as possible.

Self-love is more than a hashtag. It determines how we do life and treat others. Join Temi Michael-O as she shares three ways to practice true self-love.

If today was your last day on earth, do you know where you will spend eternity? Are you sure you will make it to heaven? If you are not sure, you need to give your life to Jesus Christ. Please say the prayer below and let me know about it here.

Say this: Heavenly Father,
I acknowledge that I am a sinner. I believe you exist and you sent Jesus to die for me. I receive your love and forgiveness. Reveal yourself to me. I accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Amen

Welcome to God’s family!
