Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. John 8:58 (kJV)
“Before you were, I was” is fast becoming a frequent statement in my house. The little one occasionally believes he knows better than anyone else. Sometimes, reasoning and reflecting with him yield positive results. When he doesn’t get it or tells me I am wrong, I tell him, “before you were, I was.” It helps me feel better.
This scenario is similar to the current state of the world; humans are exalting themselves above God, some Christians are beginning to say the Bible is no longer relevant, evil is now good, and foolish ideologies are celebrated as wisdom.
I know God is not surprised. He laughs at all this foolishness (Psalm 2:4) like I laugh when my little one insists I am wrong due to his limited knowledge. God’s ways are the best, and they are for our good. We must humble ourselves by acknowledging that God’s way is perfect. Humility empowers us to obtain and reveal God’s good, acceptable, and perfect will in a fallen world.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2 (KJV)
