Where are you fixing your eyes? Is it in anticipation of the Bright Morning Star and the remembrance of Jesus at Christmas? Scripture tells us Jesus is the Bright Morning Star. The angel spoke to John, the apostle, and showed him things to come. This is a prophecy of Jesus coming to earth:
“I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.” Revelation 22:16 (NKJV)

My fascination with astronomy, NOT astrology has been elevated this year. I have been blessed to hear a few sermons on astronomy from my local pastor. He has opened my mind to the Word of God and the many places the Bible confirms the specific placement of stars in the sky. However, we are not to worship the stars but the One who made them.
And when you look up to the sky and see the sun, the moon, and the stars—all the heavenly array—do not be enticed into bowing down to them and worshiping things the Lord your God has apportioned to all the nations under heaven. Deuteronomy 4:19 (NIV)
When I ponder the true meaning of Christmas, I am amazed to think that God placed the stars in the sky and He named each one of them. The stars worship Him. My small human mind can’t compute this truth. This is another opportunity to dig into the Bible and ask God to show us the truth:
And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years, and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so. God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. God set them in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth, to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day. Genesis 14: 14 – 19 (NIV)
He (God) determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. Psalm 147: 4 (NIV)
The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.
They have no speech, they use no words;
no sound is heard from them.
Yet their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun.
It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,
like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
It rises at one end of the heavens
and makes its circuit to the other;
nothing is deprived of its warmth.
The law of the Lord is perfect,
refreshing the soul.
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.
The precepts of the Lord are right,
giving joy to the heart.
Psalm 19: 1 – 8 (NIV)
When we consider Jesus coming to the world as a baby in a manager, we always remember the Star of Bethlehem that shined. It was a revelation of lighting the way for Jesus coming and drew shepherds, wise men, townspeople, and even Kings to see what was revealed in the darkness.
Jesus is the way, the truth, and the Light. He is the Bright Morning Star!
His statutes are trustworthy, right and give joy to the heart. Joy to the World!
